6. A NEW LEAF The previously city-glam 15 on Orange Hotel has been newly transformed into an oasis of open spaces, natural light and a proliferation of leaves. Given an extensive overhaul (pictured above) by Source IBA, the atrium, bar, deck, conference room and coffee bar have been turned into layered and welcoming spaces, with the aim to create a more hospitable and enticing venue. The result is a beautiful and calming oasis.

7. HOME AFFAIRS Chef Jan Hendrik van der Westhuizen of the Michelin-starred restaurant JAN in Nice, France, will return to his roots in an exciting partnership with the Oppenheimer family in the Northern Cape. Born of a shared passion for all things South African, KLEIN JAN will open at one of the country’s leading private game reserves, Tswalu Kalahari, where Jan Hendrik will design the destination’s culinary experience. Watch this space.

8. LIFE OF STYLE Chanel has a fragrance collection that allows a more intimate engagement with the brand’s story. Les Exclusifs de Chanel scents are inspired by the life of Coco, and each one encapsulates a facet of her history. The new addition to the range, 1957, celebrates her link with the United States – Americans were bewitched by her creations and her stature as an independent woman. It perfectly illustrates the signature (deceptively) simple Chanel style.

9. HELLO, NEIGHBOUR The Aster, a new Horizon Capital Residential development, is an exclusive block of 21 apartments in Oranjezicht, Cape Town. Designed to maximise natural light, every apartment boasts floor-to-ceiling glass and aluminium sliding doors. Residents enjoy the benefits of sustainable features like solar water heating, water-efficient fittings and low-energy LED lighting, and communal outdoor space. Prices start from R1.95 million, with no transfer duty payable.

10. AN EXCELLENT IDEA GOOD is a modern multi layered business that works towards “doing good” through its various business endeavours, which include GOODWork, GOODFood and GOODStore. It strives to consider the environment, promote sustainable practices and be mindful of its impact on people and the community. Its first venue, GOODWork, is a co-working
space in the Iron Works building in Woodstock, offering hot desks, suites and meeting rooms.
