The Leadwood Villa at Saseka is an immersive bush experience for the whole family

Luxury family travel has become a much sought-after category in South African hospitality – with consumers seeking memorable experiences that cater to larger groups and offer privacy with all the conveniences of a lodge or hotel stay.

The new Leadwood Villa at Saseka Tented Camp in Thornybush, which opened its doors in April 2019, is an exclusive-use tented villa ideal for families or a small group. A dedicated 230m² main living area includes a spacious deck with built in fire-pit, pool, dining and seating area and views of the Monwana river bed. The villa consists of one separate tented bedroom suite, with the possibility of adding two extra tented suites closely situated, depending on the size of the party.

Designed to suit a group, where flexibility is needed, the Leadwood Villa experience caters to the individual needs of families and guests – whether that’s relaxing by the pool, enjoying drinks around the fire, or playing board games before bed. With a private chef on hand for all meals to prepare locally inspired cuisine, guests need only focus on the business of enjoying their stay. Dinners can also be had in the sand riverbed, under the stars, for a magical and memorable experience.

You’ll have the benefit too of a dedicated game-viewing vehicle with an experienced ranger and tracker team on hand to curate game drives twice daily to explore the 14 000-hectre wilderness of the Thornybush Private Nature Reserve, which now forms part of the Greater Kruger National Park Conservation Area.

Designed by the award-winning duo of Silvio Rech and Lesley Carstens, Leadwood Villa and Saseka Tented Camp combine natural, sustainable architecture with cutting-edge design. Influenced by the nostalgia of the tented camp tradition, and allowing the sounds of the bush to filter though for an immersive experience, the suites are romantic, but also enjoy every 21st century luxury.
