The coast with the most
Mauritius’ Mont Choisy La Réserve offers the best of all worlds
The location of Mauritius calls to mind tropical holidays and idyllic time out from everyday life. But the reality is that Mauritius is a highly desirable lifestyle destination all year round – offering an enviable way of life, bustling centres of business, and a sound schooling system. Pam Golding Properties has extensive interests in the island country, and its latest project brings together the best of a cosmopolitan city lifestyle and the beauty and pace of a coastal retreat.
The third phase of Mont Choisy Golf Estate (following the sell out of the previous two phases) is Mont Choisy La Réserve – a development on the doorstep of Grande Baie that is set to become the heart of the Smart City concept (one of three on the island). This third phase in the development comprises 214 units that range in level from luxury apartments, to private villas and golf villas, and in size from 117sqm to 592sqm. Buyers will also be eligible to apply for Mauritian residency for themselves and their immediate families.
Offering the proximity of Grand Baie’s attractions – from eateries, boutiques and nightlife, to leisure activities – only a walk away, Mont Choisy La Réserve is a secluded haven, protected from the southwest winds and rain that affects the rest of the island. And while it offers the convenience of city life, it’s also set in a lush wetland environment surrounded by waterfalls and a diverse indigenous eco system. A private inland beach – the first freshwater lagoon in the Indian Ocean region that is swimmable – is an added attraction.
Integrating into the natural surrounds, this new phase of Mont Choisy links directly to a large boulevard and 1.5km of walkways, jogging, cycle tracks, park areas and other outdoor activities – all in beautifully landscaped gardens. The Smart City will include retail, eateries and entertainment as well as schools, offices and medical facilities.
Richard Haller, director of Pam Golding Mauritius, further explains the Smart City concept. Revolving around the work, life and play concept, the Smart Cities scheme incorporates mixed-use developments in cosmopolitan conurbations applying smart technology and pioneering innovation in urban planning. ‘The focus is to deliver a happier lifestyle through developing self-sufficient cities offering integrated sustainable solutions and ensuring minimum waste and maximum comfort for all citizens irrespective of social and economic class now, and into the future.’
