Design Indaba calls for up-and-coming talent to enter the Emerging Creatives programme

The Emerging Creatives programme is an initiative from Design Indaba and The Department of Arts and Culture whose mission it is to propel talented youngsters and creatives beginning their career journeys forward by providing a platform for their work to be seen, and for them to engage with members of the industry and public.

The programme admits 50 outstanding applicants from all sectors – ranging from architects and fashion designers or illustrators, to furniture designers, jewellers, graphic designers, filmmakers and multi-disciplinary mavericks. Those shortlisted and accepted into the programme will participate in the illustrious and renowned Design Indaba Conference 2020 in Cape Town and at the Johannesburg simulcast venue.

Not only does the programme offer an enviable launchpad for entrepreneurs and business owners, but also supports the participants for the event in the form of return flights to Cape Town, accommodation for the duration of Design Indaba Festival 2020, a profile on Design Indaba’s website and a year of prolonged national and international media exposure, across platforms.

Over the years (it was established in 2005), the Emerging Creatives programme has played a foundational role in getting the careers of numerous design stars off the ground. Its alumni includes the likes of fashion luminaries Thebe Magugu, Rich Mnisi and Laduma Ngxokolo, accessories designer Katherine-Mary Pichulik, Neo Mahlangu and renowned ceramicist Andile Dyalvane. Taking part in this exciting career accelerator has the potential to catapult new creatives’ careers forward exponentially, in similar fashion to previous participants.

Hopefuls can apply via this link https://bit.ly/31zgNO9. Note that applications close at midnight on 30 October 2019.
