Babylonstoren’s new Fynbos cottages are a heavenly addition to the farm’s idyllic offering

A self-contained eco system all of its own, the Babylonstoren estate is a monument to beauty where the bigger picture and the smaller details come together in total harmony.

A popular spot for a day-trip and garden stroll, the hotel element of the farm is the best way to truly immerse yourself in the dream lifestyle that the founders have created here. And even more so than the beautiful original rooms near the main buildings, the new Fynbos cottages offer a total escape from it all.

Launched earlier this year, these cottages are short drive from the main hub of the farm, tucked behind a picturesque dam and beyond groves of citrus trees. Knowing that you’re close to all the farm’s amenities (the beautiful Babel and Greenhouse restaurants, blissful spa, wine-tasting room and deli), but feeling far removed from it all gives you the best of both. Ranging in size to cater to families and couples alike, each comes with its own golf cart and a set of bicycles, scenic views and utter seclusion.

The dreamy oasis-like recreational area – walled off and purely for the use of Fynbos guests – with heated pool and bar allows you to hide out from the rest of the farm, only to head to ‘civilisation’ if you need to dine or want to explore the gardens. And even so, the cottage’s kitchens mean you can forage in the gardens, stock up on pantry supplies at the deli and make dinner in the comfort and privacy of your own accommodation.

Babylonstoren has always been good at the details, and the Fynbos cottages are no exception. Touches like the pressed fynbos framed on the walls, exquisite bathrooms, underfloor heating, open fireplace and seasonal produce from the farm on the kitchen table really set it apart.
