No.3 Silo | Third is a Charm
Last week the most recent phase of the Silo precinct development was launched in Cape Town. No.3 Silo, a luxury residential development comprising around 80 luxury apartments ranging in size from one to four bedrooms. The building will echo the Grain Silo via its three-cylinder design, so as to keep the possible permutations of the apartments unique and varied and give each space a different personality.
Like Silos 1 and 2, the development will be designed and built along the same green principles, by Van Der Merwe Miszewski Architects and Makeka Design Lab, to form part of the greater Silo District. V&A Waterfront CEO David Green said, ‘Development at the V&A is market-led, in response to a demand we have seen for bespoke commercial offices and urban residential with harbour and mountain views. The intention is to create a vibrant and mixed-use sustainable district with sustainability credentials that will offer business opportunities, accommodation, lifestyle options and eateries.’
The heart of the district, Zeitz MOCAA, will define the area as a cultural hotspot, but there are plans for a Virgin Active Health Club in No.4 Silo with No.5 Silo housing commercial space and No.6 a hotel.
