100% Design South Africa wows with top-notch local talent

The always-anticipated 100% Design South Africa show, presented together with Decorex Joburg, has come around again. Running all weekend at Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand, it’s a vibrant showcase of the country’s creativity and manufacturing prowess and brilliantly illustrates the depth of talent in our design industry. As the premier design trade show on the continent it consistently brings together designers to launch new products and collaborate on new projects, catalyzing further the industry’s growth and development.

Some highlights to look forward to this weekend are:

Star power

Laduma Ngxokolo, Feature Designer for 2019, showcases his homeware (pictured above) in signature charismatic style – check out his inimitable pattern-making talents via his new products, from wallpaper and cushions, to curtaining.

Floor work

MONN Carpets has – together with designers r1., Sindiso Khumalo and 100% Design South Africa’s own creative director Cathy O’Clery – created a runway of eye-popping graphic rugs especially for the show. Enjoy their graphic patterns and dynamic colours as you walk the floor.

Lounge act

Headed up by renowned designer Haldane Martin, the 100% Lounge feature is a playground of plants, vibrant colours and graphic forms and patterns, and demonstrates Martin’s prowess as a space-maker and product designer in exciting fashion.

Garden party

Houtlander’s new outdoor range, in collaboration with the American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) is a beautiful balance of function and form. The waterproof, thermally modified American red oak pieces have been presented in charming fashion, amid a water feature and surrounded by pots and foliage, perfectly showing off their earthy appeal and durability.

Back on SA soil

The Sacrosanct hut, conceived by Mash T Design studio’s Thabisa Mjo, in supported by Nando’s and featuring Wiid Design and The Urbanative, among others, debuted in Milan at the Salone del Mobile and you can explore it at 100% Design South Africa!

Sweet dreams

The 100% Sleep stand by Monique Vee, Thabisa Mjo and The Urbanative’s Mpho Vackier, presents a colourful and conceptual space dedicated to the art of sleep and the sacred sanctuary that is the bedroom.
