At home with Sasha-Lee Taylor

Jul 2, 2019 | REAL|People

22-year old entrepreneur Sasha-Lee Taylor is hoping to make the lives of those in South Africa just a little better, by offering them an opportunity to gain the skill of reading! Her educational children’s book, “Learn to Read, Learn to Lead” was recognised at the National Youth Summit at Parliament in 2018.

Not only is she an author and philanthropist, but also runs a modelling pageantry school in Johannesburg. She chats with us about her Noordkruin home:

How would you describe your home?
I would definitely describe my house as chic with a homely feel, filled with love and warmth.

Who do you live with and what makes them the best ‘roommates’?
I’m fresh out of university so I still stay at home with my parents and younger sister. I would have to say my mom is the best roommate for her delicious home cooked meals!

Which is your favorite room in your house and why?
I love spending time in our lounge, mostly because we all get to spend family time together but also because we recently bought a new lounge suite and it’s super comfortable! I really enjoy spending time in our garden too, I love how peaceful it is!

Who did you entrust to decorate your home?
My mom did the decorating – she has great style and an incredible eye for the attention to details that makes a whole room come together.

What is the most expensive item you bought for your house?
This would be the television I bought myself for my room after my previous one was hit by lightning.

What is your most cherished item in your house?
I would have to say the furniture in my room  – it was my great grandmother’s, so it’s quite special.

What makes your neighborhood one that you love?
It’s a very friendly neighborhood, all the neighbors know each other and we help one another whenever we can. It’s also very conveniently located near a lot of amenities.

How would you describe the decor style in your home?
It’s a combination of homely chic with some modern finishes.

How did you make YOUR house, YOUR home?
I think to make a home yours, is to fill it with love and spend as much time with your loved ones as possible, creating special memories in your home – this is exactly what my family and I have done.
