Luxury boutique hotel

A luxury boutique hotel with a difference, Arambrook in Bishopscourt is a former family home turned hotel with exquisite grounds and all the warmth of a private residence. A small and passionate team, managed by General Manager Aubrey Ngcungama, and admirable ideals makes the venue something quite special.

While the focus is on a high-end hospitality experience, with elegant interiors by Sarah Bind that incorporate beautiful artwork by Sasha Hartslief, contemporary classic furniture and fabrics and polished finishes, the attention to detail is much more than skin deep.

The hotel places sustainability as its top priority, when it comes to staff empowerment, support of local businesses and waste policies. During the conversion process (from home to hotel) emphasis was placed on sourcing materials from local businesses, restoring existing furniture into hotel ready pieces, using low-energy LED light bulbs in all light fittings, installing solar panels for the geysers and using green certified locally produced (Belgotex) carpets used in all guest rooms and passage ways.

Additionally the hotel has a fully operational organic vegetable garden whose produce is used for guest and staff meals, prepared by the dedicated head chef Stacey Chan and chef de partie Edger Mboumba.

Organic waste is treated with Bokashi, breaking down this waste at source, which is used in the garden. The staff is all trained to implement the recycling system and the water running through the property is treated and used to water the garden and top up the pool. In-room body products are free from synthetic fragrances, colourants, petro chemicals, DEA, preservatives and parabens and not tested on animals.

Even down to activities that take place outside the property’s walls, the hotel is committed to sustainable practices – such as promoting nearby daytrips to guests to help reduce their carbon footprint and promote community-based businesses.
